The Cricket Academy coaching programme has been created with a focus on encouraging young cricketers to have fun and express themselves. The camps offer an exciting experience to enable children and teenagers to develop with a smile on their face.
Through engaging, innovative and fun sessions, TCA creates a learning environment where children of all abilities can further their cricketing development.
HARD BALL
Every group will be encouraged to use hard ball at least once a day, whether that is the Lower Order (5-7s) exploring hard balls with some solo catching activities, the Middle Order (8-11s) in a net session or the Top Order (12-16s) out in the middle for a game scenario.
We also value the importance of soft ball practice, many of our sessions and activities achieve their best developmental results when delivered with soft balls.
GROUPINGS
Children are grouped by age and ability* on every camp to ensure they are challenged correctly.
Lower Order – (5-7 year olds)
Our youngest age group focus on an introduction to cricket through fundamentals, gameplay and hand-eye coordination games.
Middle Order – (8-11 year olds)
Our middle order continue their cricket development with introductions to new skills, more technique focus and a progression in to hard ball when suitable.
Top Order – (12-16 year olds)
Our top order focus on development with a greater focus on technical skills.
*age groups listed are guides for the groupings. Children may be moved up or down according to ability and/or agree spread on camp.
TCA COACHES
We believe that the game should be played with ambition, creativity, passion, bravery and enthusiasm.
These qualities are essential for any potential TCA coach along with:
- ECB Coaching qualification
- Valid Enhanced DBS
Activate Camps have trained managers on every site who come from a variety of different backgrounds. We actively recruit school teachers, PGCE students, qualified sports coaches and childcare professionals to take our management roles.
The professional staff we employ help us exceed the high standards that are set and expected by Ofsted. All our staff are DBS checked and have undergone a strict safer recruitment process to ensure their suitability. We will always have at least one first aid trained staff member on site at all time.
We recognise the importance of health & safety and child welfare. We are the only provider of our kind that has training developed in partnership with Cardinus Risk Management and approved by the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management.
EQUIPMENT
We can provide all equipment to be used during the camp. However, if your child has their own kit that they want to use, they are more than welcome to bring it along.
