Nile Wilson Gymnastics Residential
Welcome to the Nile Wilson Gymnastics Residential Course, designed to support squad gymnasts to achieve their personal best.
This course provides a comprehensive training programme that fosters growth, development, and a love for gymnastics.
Nile Wilson Gymnastics Residential is a residential gymnastics camp for squad and squad aspiring children and teenagers aged 10-17.
The camp is available in both 6-night and 3-night booking options taking place at Worksop College, S80 3AP 3rd-9th August, using Nile Wilson Gymnastics’ amazing facilities in both Rotherham and Mansfield.
The programme
Who is it for?
This course is designed specifically for Women’s and Men’s Artistic Gymnasts meeting the following criteria:
- Minimum Age: Gymnasts must be 11 in the year (born 2014 or earlier).
Development or Performance Grades Gymnasts (WAG) - Pre-requisite Skills:
- All: Round-off flick tuck back on fast track, giant and upstart on a metal bar, handspring over the vault (any height).
- WAG: Beam skills must include a back walkover and working towards a flick.
- MAG: Circle on mushroom, inlocate and dislocate on rings, and swing to handstand on parallel bars.
What’s included?
Expert Coaching: The gymnastics is led by experienced coaches who bring a wealth of knowledge from competitive and recreational gymnastics. They provide technical guidance and personalised feedback to help gymnasts improve their skills, technique, and overall performance.
Workshops: In addition to hands-on training, gymnasts will take part in educational workshops on strength and conditioning, artistry and mental skills training. This will include topics such as goal setting, mental focus, imagery and motivation.
Sessions are delivered at NWG Centres in Mansfield and Rotherham, in age and ability groups to get the best out of their time with us! All travel is included from the residential setting to the NWG Centres.
6-night programme (Sunday-Saturday)
4 full days of gymnastics training, coaching, and Wednesday workshops.
3-night programme (Sunday-Wednesday)
2 full days of gymnastics training, coaching, and Wednesday workshops.
Equipment
All gymnasts are expected to bring their own handguards, gloves and loops and any other training aids that they usually use.
The coaches
Our team
Level 1-3 WAG and MAG British Gymnastics qualified coaches including our regional head coaches, club head coaches and department leads.
Our team of Nile Wilson Gymnastics coaches will be joined by a specialist choreographer, strength and conditioning coach, high-performance consultant Nick Ruddock and Nile Wilson himself, producing a well-rounded programme that covers all areas of the sport.
All our staff are DBS checked, and we will always have at least one first aid trained staff member on site at all times.
Residential programme
At Activate Camps, we understand that sending your child on a residential camp is a big decision. That’s why we place as much emphasis on pastoral care as we do on delivering exceptional sports programmes.
Our dedicated team ensures every child feels safe, supported, and at home from the moment they arrive.
The residential programme includes:

Specialist workshops
Nile Wilson
Nile Wilson is an Olympic, Commonwealth and World Championship medal-winning gymnast, who is followed by millions across the world. His platforms on social media have rated him in the top 50 influencers in the UK by the Sunday Times and given him a huge voice to speak honestly about what matters most to him. His battle and ongoing management of his mental health issues is definitely one of those things. Although now retired from gymnastics, the sport is very much still a part of his life, as his passions have turned to running gymnastics clubs and driving participation in the sport across the UK.
Nick Ruddock
Nick is recognised as a world leading coach educator and consultant within the international gymnastics community, having provided services to 25 international federations such as the national teams of Brazil, Japan, Canada, Australia, Germany and Netherlands. Nick is also a technical expert for European Gymnastics.
Nick’s membership programmes, support and digital services currently reach coaches and leaders in over 60 countries.
Nick’s exposure to a wide range of clubs, coaches and systems across many countries and continents offers him a unique perspective on the sport, allowing him to soften the learning curve for gymnastics coaches and ‘change the way they coach forever.’
About Our Partner
Nile Wilson Gymnastics
Nile Wilson Gymnastics is a national provider of the sport, with 6 gymnastics clubs and a London-based Academy. Nile Wilson Gymnastics vision is to run gymnastics clubs around the country that ‘change the game’, delivering unique and engaging activities within our gymnastics programmes.
We are excited to partner with NWG’s Rotherham and Mansfield locations on this project, 2 state-of-the-art training facilities for gymnastics. They include full-size competition gymnastics apparatus, as well as trampolines and foam pits. We also have a large, mirrored studio in our Mansfield site for the artistry and strength and conditioning workshops, and both venues also have separate areas for theory portions of the residential.
